Please Contact Your NYS Senator Today and Ask Them to Get Back to Work
The New York Senate did not resolve its power struggle before the regular session ended on June 22. Governor Paterson has called them into extraordinary session and says he will continue to do so every day until "the people's business is accomplished." The first two sessions have failed to produce any result except chaos and confusion because each party continues to assert leadership control.

Senators should work out an immediate compromise over control of the chamber through a power-sharing arrangement or other means. Critical bills are still pending, including time- sensitive matters like sales tax extensions for counties which need to prepare their budgets for next year and Mayoral control of the New York City schools. According to a story in the New York Times on Tuesday, Senators are not hearing anger over their conduct from constituents.

Here is your chance to remedy the situation by clicking this link: http://capwiz.com/lwv/ny/issues/alert/?alertid=13625116&type=ST to send an e-mail to your NYS Senator.
